There are seven more games down for decision on Sunday in the Fairyhouse Steel SFC, Meade Farm IFC, Balreask Bar, Restaurant & Guest Accommodation JFC and the Coolrite JBFC with all games either throwing in at 11:00 or 12:00 to facilitate supporters going to the TG4 Ladies All-Ireland SFC Final at 16:15.

The meeting of Ballinabrackey and Ratoath in the Fairyhouse Steel Senior Football Championship brings together two sides who had vastly differing campaigns in the Division 1 League. Ratoath who are managed by Paul Galvin enjoyed a fine campaign, only losing out at the semi-final stage after finishing third in the table whereas Ballinabrackey lost a relegation playoff to St. Colmcille’s.

There is an interesting and fresh look to the Ratoath side with Ben Wyer who has played much of his football in the full back line to date, now pushing out to centre back where he is flanked by Liam Kelly and Cian Crawford.  Liam Corbett is another of the younger players who gets the nod and he is partnered at midfield by the experienced Cian O’Brien.

The ‘Bracks will look to the Coffeys for inspiration and they form a very tight knit half back line with Richie and Mark on the flanks and Sean at centre back.  Chris O’Connor who is more noted as a defender but has always shown a happy knack of kicking points, will line out at full forward.

Meath Hill make their Senior Championship bow on what is a historic day for the club who occupy a small area on the border of Cavan and Monaghan.  There is no doubt that a huge crowd will make the relatively short journey to Simonstown for their meeting with Trim.

In Dominic Yorke they possess one of the best goalkeepers in the county while Jamie Slavin is a fine defender at 6 but it is Damien Turley, that redoubtable Down man who is the heartbeat of their defensive efforts.  Should Jack Slavin and Ryan Owens get the better of Tadgh Carty and Conor Quigley then Cormac Sheehy, Jack McMahon and Gary Breslin can provide plenty of firepower up front.

Trim will no doubt look to Aaron Lynch and Tom Carmody to provide much of their attakcing threat while Daire Lynch pulls the strings at centre forward.  And how Meath Hill deal with the raiding Ciaran Caulfield from wing back will be fascinating.

In Group A of the Meade Farm Intermediate Football Championship, Walterstown take on St. Patrick’s at 11:00 in Ashbourne.  Walterstown won Division 3 of the League but information on them is hard to gather as there appears to be a media blackout imposed within the club.

St. Patrick’s reached the Corn na Boinne Cup Final earlier in the year but didn’t perform on the day but there is no doubt that they have oodles of talent.  Sean Emmanuel and Shane Dowling form an imposing midfield pairing and in Jamie Murphy, Ben Sullivan and Donal Landy there is an attacking trio that should go well.

When these sides met last year in the relegation playoffs, St. Patrick’s won out by a point.  It’s likely to be tight again.

In Summerhill at noon, Ballivor and Moynalvey meet in the second game of Group A.  Both of these sides have genuine ambitions of claiming the Mattie McDonnell Cup and Moynalvey have shown good form to date, reaching the final of the Division 2 League.

Ballivor were semi-finalists last year only losing out to Meath Hill and if they can marry the committments for players of playing hurling for Kildalkey and Killyon then they are capable of going close again.

Curraha are back in the Intermediate ranks and they take on Curraha in Dunganny.  They will as always look to James McEntee and Diarmuid Moriarty for inspiration and Moriarty’s battle at midfield with Billy Hogan will prove pivotal.

In the Junior ranks, St. Ultan’s begin life without Cian McBride when facing Kilmainham in a local derby in Grangegodden.  Mickey Newman is player/manager for Kilmainham and St. Ultan’s will need to be disciplined to prevent him getting many score-able frees.

The Coolrite JBFC game on the agenda sees St. Mary’s who won their Division 6 League Final a few weeks ago coming up against Boardsmill who did the Division 7 and Division 11 League Double.

Will the form from the higher Division stand up or can Boardsmill cause a mild upset minus Danny Dixon?
