Club Information

Meath Hill G.F.C., founded in 1903, played Castletown in that year’s Meath football semi-final, wearing white and blue jerseys with pink knicks—now faded to white. During periods of high emigration, players joined North Meath Gaels, winning a senior championship in 1950.

 

In 1951, Shale Brick Rovers G.F.C. was formed for players from Meath Hill, Drumconrath, Nobber, and Kingscourt but was replaced by St. Brigids, Meath Hill, in 1962. Matches were played in local fields until a pitch was developed near Ballyhoe Lake in 1972. The club moved to its current home in 1992, featuring a G.A.A. Centre and a floodlit Prunty pitch.

 

Meath Hill G.F.C. has a proud history of success, with notable achievements including Junior A Football Championship titles in 1942, 1980, and 2017. Other achievements include the Junior D Championship title in 2012 and appearances in the Junior Football Championship finals in 1979 and 1996, as well as the Intermediate Football Championship final in 1986. The club also claimed the Tailteann Cup and Reserve League in 2017, followed by a Division 3 A League victory in 2018 with a victory over Bective after a replay. In recent years, Meath Hill continued its winning streak with a Premier Championship title in 2020 and Reserve Cup triumphs in 2022 and 2024 against Ballinlough and Longwood respectively. The club reached a new milestone by securing the Intermediate Football Championship and Corn Na Boinne in 2024, after both games decided in extra time versus Navan O’Mahonys and Oldcastle.
