Hurling Group Action Concludes

There is a wealth of action in the Hurling Championships this weekend with the concluding round of fixtures in the Ted Murtagh Clothing & Footwear Senior Hurling Championship and the JM Food Services Intermediate Hurling Championship.  In total there are eleven games on the fixtures programme from Saturday evening through to Sunday afternoon.  Note as the games are the final round, all group games will throw in at the same time.

The Ted Murtagh Clothing & Footwear SHC and JM Food Services IHC games are all ticket and are priced as follows.
  • General Admission – €10
  • Student/OAP – €5
  • Children U-16 accompanied by an adult attend for free.
Tickets for all the SHC & IHC games can be purchased via the Meath GAA App which can be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play Store.

There isn’t mush at stake in one of the games in Group A of the Senior Hurling Championship but the big match is undoubtedly the meeting of Kildalkey and Kiltale in Trim.  The two sides are currently tied on six points after four games and Kiltale have a slightly better score difference.  This means a draw would be sufficient for the John Donoghue managed side to progress directly to the semi-final but the Nick Fitzgerald managed Kildalkey know anything other than a win will see them out again in two weeks time for a quarter final.

Trim and Ratoath who are both already sure of their places in the knockout stage meet in Pairc Tailteann, Trim are safely through to the semi-finals and Ratoath the quarter finals.  Ratoath turned in their best performance of the year against Na Fianna the last day and will be looking to build further momentum.  Trim have been operating at a very high level to date but are having to deal with the loss of a few key defenders.  The production line has been operating very well in the club in recent times as their domination of the Minor grade proves and there is a wealth of young players waiting in the wings for their chance to impress.

The other game in Group A sees Killyon and Na Fianna meet in Longwood with the prospect of relegation to Group B looming large for both sides.  The equation is simple.  A win for either side and they stay in Group A while a draw would be sufficient on score difference for Killyon.

Blackhall Gaels are safely through to the quarter finals but may require a victory over St. Peter’s Dunboyne in Group B to secure top spot in the group while any one of Clann na nGael, Kilmessan or Longwood could secure the other spot giving passage through to the knockout stages.

If Clann na nGael slip up against a Dunderry side fighting for Senior survival then the winners of Kilmessan and Longwood will book a quarter final place.  It’s all to play for.  Meanwhile at the bottom of the group, Dunderry and St. Peter’s Dunboyne are both looking for a positive result to maintain their Senior status.
