Final day of Hurling Championship group action
Final day of Hurling Championship group action

The action continues in the Hurling Championships today with final round fixtures in Group A of the Ted Murtagh Clothing & Footwear, Trim Senior Hurling Championship as well as in Groups A & B of the JM Foods sponsored Intermediate Hurling Championship.

The Ted Murtagh Clothing & Footwear SHC and JM Food Services IHC games are all ticket and are priced as follows.
  • General Admission – €10
  • Student/OAP – €5
  • Children U-16 accompanied by an adult attend for free.
Tickets for all the SHC & IHC games can be purchased via the Meath GAA App which can be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play Store

Arguably the most important game of the day in the Senior Hurling Championship is the meeting of Killyon and Na Fianna in Longwood with both clubs knowing their survival in the top grade of Senior hurling is at stake.  Neither side have picked up a point to date, with Na Fianna’s early form not holding up as the competiton progressed while Killyon have found the going tough throughout.  That said, Killyon have the better score difference so know a draw would be enough to remain in Group A next year.  It’s win or bust for Na Fianna.  Anything could happen here.

Kildalkey and Kiltale meet in Trim to decide which team will progress directly to the semi-final while the loser heads through the longer route with a quarter final in a fortnights time.  Should the loser win that quarter final then the two sides will meet again in a months time in the semi-final.  A draw would be sufficient for Kiltale to earn a free weekend.

Pairc Tailteann plays host to Ratoath and Trim with Trim already guaranteed top spot in the group and Ratoath assured of fourth place.  Again, should Ratoath win their quarter final in two weeks, these sides will meet again in the last four on the weekend of September 30 – October 1. A notable inclusion on the Ratoath bench is Cian Rogers who has spent the summer in America but who now makes a timely return to the fold while Tomas Corbett also features on the bench as he continues his recovery from a long term injury.
