2020 LMFM Meath MFC Previews – Division 6
Division 6 – Ballivor, Clann na nGael, Clonard, Donaghmore/Ashbourne (B), Oldcastle.
The top two sides in the Division will progress directly to the Final with the team placing
third qualifying for the Shield Final. The teams placing fourth and fifth will contest the
Shield semi-final.
Ballivor – Having withdrawn from the Spring League, hopes are high that Ballivor will be in position to give Division 6 of the LMFM MFC a good shot. Among their key players will be Brian O’Halloran and if they can come home from Oldcastle on Wednesday with a major confidence fill up.
Clann na nGael –
Manager – Donie McLoughlin. Selectors – George Black & Tom Doyle.
Captain – Ben Macken.
The Athboy/Ráth Chairn / Martinstown youngsters will be eyeing up a potential MFC & MHC double as they will be coming into the MFC fancied by many to win Division 6 and are among the front runners to land the MHC Division 2 title. They’ll lack for nothing on the line, with the brains trust of Donie McLoughlin, George Black & Tom Doyle noted shrewd operators.
Clonard – Fielding a team on their own for the first time in many years is an achievement in its own right for Clonard who are clearly building good foundations for the future of the club. Two years ago, this group of players contested a U-15 Final when joined with Longwood and are now in a position to field in their own name. However, the Championship plays out, this
along is a success worthy of acknowledgement.
Manager – Aidan Leacy. Selectors – David Hannon & Paddy McHugh.
Captain – Brandon Martin.
Donaghmore/Ashbourne (B) – Donaghmore/Ashbourne are something of a wildcard in the Division as it can be difficult to gauge the strength of second teams in clubs, especially in a season such as the one we are currently experiencing. Team captain Shane Duke is a fine young talent and he could help inspire the team to success.
Manager – Davey Gaughan. Selectors – Dermot Duke, Timmy O’Regan & Eddie Mather.
Captain – Shane Duke.
Oldcastle – Their Spring League proved to be particularly challenging before it was cut short, but Oldcastle have always produced teams capable of challenging for honours when the MFC has rolled around in recent years. A win for the Minors in their opening round on Wednesday would be a welcome fillip after their Intermediates lost out to Syddan in the
Meade IFC at the weekend.
Manager – John Caffrey. Selectors – CJ Healy, Sean Maxwell & Packie Purcell. Captain –
James Tuite.
