After Kilmessan laid down a marker that they are serious contenders for the Jubilee Cup this year when defeating Trim by six points on Saturday evening, it is the turn of the reigning champions Ratoath to enter the Round 3 fray in the Ted Murtagh Clothing & Footwear, Trim SHC when they take on Kiltale this afternoon at 16:00 in St. Loman’s Park, Trim.

It took a replay to separate these two sides when they met in the final last October and another tight encounter is anticipated here between the sides who sit in third and fourth place respectively on the table. Ratoath have three points from their opening two games and know that a win here would set them up nicely for a tilt at the knockout stages as it would put them three points clear of fourth spot, with only three clubs progressing to the latter stages of the Championship.
The reigning champions are boosted by the return of Liam Corbett and Domhnall Rogers to their defence with both having summered in America and their return strengthens an already imposing side. Rogers slots in at right half back and forms one third of what is a physically imposing half back line alongside Darragh Kelly at centre back and Liam Kelly at left half back.
As ever, the accuracy of Padraig O’Hanrahan from frees will be crucial in terms of keeping the scoreboard ticking over and his duel in this regard with Jack Regan for Kiltale will go a long way towards deciding the outcome.
Kiltale will have spent the last fortnight mulling over a very disappointing performance against Kilmessan and come into this game on something of a redemptive mission. We have mentioned the Ratoath half back line above but there is no shortage of guile and experience in the Kiltale half forward line and if Adam Murphy, Mark O’Sullivan and James Kelly can manage to get the upperhand here then it will be a major boost for John Donoghue’s charges.
The Loman Dempsey Property Consultants Senior B Hurling Championship has a full bill of action today and many eyes will be on Kilskyre/Moylagh and Longwood to see if they can maintain their impressive form to date with both sides having 100% records from their opening two games.
Reigning champions Killyon have lost both of their games to date but will relish nothing more than the sight of the Longwood jersey and the prospect of reigniting their season by taking down their nearest and dearest neighbours.
Blackhall Gaels are also pointless and they face a tricky outing against Kilskyre/Moylagh. Always capable of pulling off a result, can they strike a blow and take out the North Meath outfit?
Then we have Dunderry who suffered a heavy defeat two weeks ago at the hands of Kilskyre/Moylagh and they will be looking to bounce back against O’Mahonys.
