The two Fairyhouse Steel Senior Football Championship games on today’s bill form legs 2 and 3 of a triple header of action in Páirc Tailteann. First up is a repeat of the 2021 County Final as Wolfe Tones and St. Peter’s Dunboyne renew acquaintances. The Ger Robinson managed Dunboyne side are shorn of the services of a number of players with Cathal Lacey, Conor Martin, John Harkin, Jordan McLoughlin and Stephen Henry all currently sidelined. Wolfe Tones on the other hand are boosted by the return between the uprights of regular goalkeeper Ciarán Ó Gallachóir after he missed their opening weekend win over Gaeil Colmcille due to his honeymoon. We won’t mention the name of the person involved in this game who enquired during the week if the game was on Clubber as he would have to get a special haircut for the television screen …
The third and final act of that triple header sees reigning champions Summerhill taking on a Dunshaughlin side who many regard as being the pretenders to the throne. Both sides picked up wins a fortnight ago after late flourishes and if they play to the levels they are capable of, then these teams are more than capable of producing the game of the Championship to date.
Both of these Fairyhouse Steel SFC games are live on Clubber and the stream or season pass can be purchased here: Clubber
Meath Hill and Nobber come into today’s Meade Farm Intermediate Football Championship Group A game in contrasting fortunes. Meath Hill had an impressive win over Bective on the Friday of the opening weekend and are tipped by many for outright honours while Nobber struggled against Blackhall Gaels.
Group B also sees a game between winners and losers from Round 1 with Ballivor who accounted for Castletown taking on Longwood who narrowly lost out to Duleek-Bellewstown. When these sides met 52 weeks ago, Ballivor ran out 18 point winners but the formline from Round 1 suggests it could be a lot tighter this year. Can Longwood turn the tables?
Both of the Group A games in the Balreask Bar, Restaurant & Guest Accomodation Junior Football Championship take place today with Moylagh meeting St. Ultan’s at 14:00 in Carnaross and Syddan taking on Slane at 17:00 in Páirc Baile Ghib.
The third JFC game of the day is the first game of the day when St. Brigid’s and St. Vincent’s meet in Páirc Tailteann at 12:00. These sides met in Round 1 last year when the Ballinacree outfit ran out winners. Since then, they have been hit by emigration and St. Vincent’s have improved. Will those factors be enough to see the tables turned on the Brigid’s?
There are two games down for decision in the Coolrite sponsored Junior Football Championship with St. Mary’s and Cortown meeting in Paddy O’Brien Park and Drumconrath taking on Eastern Gaels in Rathkenny. Both games throw in at 16:00. Eastern Gaels didn’t provide a panel for today’s game, making them the only club playing this weekend across the Fairyhouse Steel SFC, Meade Farm IFC, Balreask Bar, Restaurant & Guest Accomodation JFC & Coolrite JBFC not to do so.
