Conditions are forecast to be good for this evening’s semi-finals of the Bradys Skoda Regional Football Championship and we have two exciting games to look forward to as the teams go in search of a place in Sunday’s Final.
Can reigning champions Boyne Valley book their place in the decider for the second year in succession when they take on. Lough Crew at 19:30? Daire Rowe was in impressive form for them last week and they will once more look to the Syddan sharpshooter to lead the way in attack where he will be ably assisted by David McLoughlin and Matt Tully. CJ Healy shot the lights out a week ago and the talented marksman will once more be key for Lough Crew. If they can get him in top form then Lough Crew have a great chance but much will depend on whether Pearse Sheridan and Joseph Blake can also catch fire.
The second semi-final pits two unbeaten sides against each other when Moyfenragh and Bru na Boinne meet at 20:00. Moyfenragh have been mightily impressive to date but will face the stiffest test of their credentials to date when they take on the side from the east of the county. Mickey Burke missed out last week with a knock and is once more named on the bench. Were he to miss out, it would represent a significant blow for Moyfenragh but they have plenty of other talented players within their ranks who are capable of stepping up. Darragh Swaine has shown well thus far for them while Brendan McKeon has been in scintillating form with his piercing runs from deep being a feature to date. Bru na Boinne have a solid defence with the half back line of Sam O’Leary, Robin Clarke and Ryan Hand being excellent and they will look to this line to be the launchpad for much of the attacking play. Clarke will hold the middle but the wing backs have licence to bomb forward and how Moyfenragh cope with this could be pivotal.
