Two sides that reached the last eight of the Fairyhouse Steel Senior Football Championship in contrasting fashions meet this evening in one of the most talked about quarter finals for years. St. Colmcille’s came through the group stage unbeaten with two wins and a draw to their name while Donaghmore/Ashbourne performed something resembling a Houdini Act on the final day of the group stage to get through with one win to their name.
The games are all ticket and are priced as follows.

Since winning the Intermediate Football Championship in 2007, Donaghmore/Ashbourne have been regular contenders to land the Keegan Cup but despite having had good opportunities to win the famous trophy, have never been able to get their hands on it. Quite why this has been the case has puzzled many seasoned observers of footballing affairs in the county as the raw ingredients always seemed to be there but for whatever reason ultimate glory has not been achieved while they have watched their near neighbours Ratoath go on to dominate the Senior ranks in recent seasons.
This year they have joint managers with Padraig Durkan who is steeped in the club, joined at the helm by Monaghan native Shane Treanor while they are ably assisted by Tom O’Connor and Vinny Carton. Can this quartet unlock the undoubted potential in the ‘Moors ranks or will they fall short against the ‘Cilles?
