Meath booked their place in the quarter final of the Tailteann Cup after a hardfought victory over Down in sweltering conditions in Parnell Park on Saturday afternoon, June 3.

 

A late Mathew Costello point from an Advanced Mark edged Meath a point to the good at half time, with Jordan Morris having earlier emphatically scored a penalty at a time when his side were under the cosh.

 

 

The impact off the replacements bench proved to be crucial with Daithí McGowan landing two monster long range kicks from placed balls while Jack Flynn and Donal Lenihan also chipped in with scores off the bench.

 

Meath will now have home advantage in the quarter final and that fixture will be played on thew weekend of June 17/18.
