The ONeills.com Leinster U-20 Hurling Championship commences today Saturday for Meath and the opening fixture of the competition sees the side having the short journey to The Downs outside Mullingar to take on Westmeath.
The team will be jointly captained by Cian Colhoun from Kildalkey and Darragh Heffernan from Trim.
Brendan Smith from Clann na nGael lines out in goals with Darragh Fay, Cian Colhoun and Brian Stagg forming the full back line. Anthony Healy anchors the defensive effort at centre back and he is flanked by Paul Hennessy and Cormac Slattery.
The midfield pairing is all from Trim with joint captain Darragh Heffernan joined by 2022 Meath Young Hurler of the Year George Douglas.
Mark Leavy who shone at this grade last year when on free taking duties will lead the attack from centre forward and he is joined on the wings by Tiernan Anderson and Fergal Flynn.
The inside forward line sees Luke Gallagher and Kyle Ennis joined by Darren O’Higgins who featured during the Allianz Hurling League with the county senior side.
