Thank you from the CCC

Thank you from the CCC
A chairde,
I am sending an important notice to all our stakeholders in Meath GAA regarding our club games.
A special thank you to our club officials, team managers, and players for their cooperation in recent weeks in helping with the orderly delivery of fixtures.
The last six months, especially the last month, has seen record rainfall, leaving ground water levels at unprecedented highs.
Consequently, multiple games and sometimes close to full rounds have been postponed. This has had an impact on our new and ambitious games programme.
Against that backdrop of poor weather, the C.C.C, has tried to refix games quickly and avoid large accumulations of back fixtures.
That is because future weather is unknowable, and the underage programme ramps up in April putting further pressure on facilities and referee availability. We recognise this can put pressure on clubs for pitches and players in the short-term as fixtures congest.
We extend our gratitude to clubs and players, many of whom have gone above and beyond, to complete fixtures and make pitches available. This has helped Meath GAA enormously.
We also want to thank our referees. All fixtures were published out to August which our referees have welcomed, however recent refixtures at short notice would not be possible without our referees’ flexibility and commitment to provide games for our footballers and hurlers.
The hour has just gone back, daylight is longer than nightfall and midweek fixtures can now go to alternative grounds as the need for floodlights is reduced.
The upfront work done in recent weeks means that pressures should ease from next week on, notwithstanding future weather issues, as we finish the football cups and the last rounds of the hurling cups.

Go raibh maith agaibh go léir arís.

Is mise le meas,

Ciarán Ó Floinn
