Moving Weekend in the Meath Club Football Championships concludes today (Sunday) but there are plenty of thrills and spills promised in the days action.

The feature game of the day in the Fairyhouse Steel Senior Football Championship is the meeting of St. Peter’s Dunboyne and Summerhill at 16:00 in Páirc Tailteann and this game is live on Clubber.
Few would have had this down as a battle to stay alive in the Championship at the outset of the season but after two defeats for these protagonists on the opening weekend, that is where we find ourselves today. Whoever loses this game is clinging onto their Championship aspirations by a fingernail and will be doing novenas for the next fortnight.
The second of the Senior games is the curtain raiser in Navan and it sees two sides who recorded opening round wins facing off against each other. Seneschalstown had gone without a win all year until taking care of St. Colmcille’s fifteen days ago but they will be facing a step up in the difficulty level here against the Paul Galvin managed Ratoath who have won the two previous meetings between the sides this year. Jack Flynn is a notable addition to their subs bench.
Longwood and Drumbaragh Emmets have seen their Meade Farm Intermediate Football Championship game moved from Trim to Boardsmill and these sides come into this game off the back of contrasting fortunes two weeks ago. Longwood caused a stir with the nature of their win over Curraha. Not normally noted as a free scoring side, they shot the lights out in Dunganny. Drumbaragh might have lost out to Oldcastle, but in their second half performance they showed enough to suggest that they can take out anybody on their day.
The Group C fixture between St. Michael’s and Navan O’Mahonys is another game on the move, this one from Dunganny to Bohermeen due to a clash with Rounders in the Centre of Excellence. St. Michael’s picked a draw against Castletown on the opening weekend while O’Mahony’s replicated 2024 by losing on the opening weekend. On that occasion they bounced back to make the final. A positive result will be needed here if any ambitions of that happening again are to be realised.
In Group D, there is a meeting of near neighbours Bective and Dunsany. Both of these sides suffered defeats on the opening weekend and a win here is imperative if the relegation battle is to be avoided.
Ballinlough have outstanding facilities and they host a double header of Balreask Bar, Restaurant & Guest Accommodation Junior Football Championship action with games at 14:00 and 16:00.
When Moylagh and St. Brigid’s met in the Championship two years ago, the players all headed off to the Fleadh Cheoil in Mullingar together afterwards. Neither side had their game tuned to perfection on the opening weekend but whoever strikes the high notes today will have the local bragging rights for the foreseeable future.
The second game sees one of the Championship favourites in Clann na nGael taking on the 2024 Coolrite JBFC winners in Carnaross. Both sides have a win apiece and Carnaross will relish this opportunity to take on one of the big guns. Have they what it takes to pick up a second win?
The sole Coolrite Junior B Football Championship game is the meeting of Kilmainhamwood and Eastern Gaels in Slane at 12:00. Will Eastern Gaels pick up a first ever win in the Championship? It is a stiff challenge against the ‘Wood.
