Senior and Intermediate Championship knockout draws on Monday evening

Following the final round of group games in the Fairyhouse Steel Senior Football and Meath Farm Intermediate Football Championships over the weekend, focus turns to the draws for the quarter finals and relegation quarter finals which will take place in the Centre of Excellence in Dunganny on Monday evening immediately following the 8 o’clock news on LMFM.

The draws will be live on LMFM and also on the Meath GAA YouTube platform – Watch the Championship Knockout Draws

The Master of Ceremonies for the draws will be Brendan Cummins and he will be assisted on the evening by Chairman of Coiste na Mi C.L.G. John Kavanagh along with Senior Football manager Colm O’Rourke.

In 2022 the format for the knockout stages was changed from a pre determined draw to an open draw where a team who tops their group can now be drawn against any side that came second in their group other than the team that came second in their own group.

Similarly the format for the relegation quarter finals means that a team which came third in their group can be drawn against any side that came in fourth place bar the team from their own group.

Quarter and Semi Finals Draw Process

  1. Names of 4 group winners placed in Pot 1 – and Names of 4 second placed teams in Pot 2.

  1. QF1 – draw team from Pot 1 and then team from Pot 2. If repeat pairing then move team from Pot 2 to QF2 slot – and draw replacement from Pot 2

  1. QF2 – draw team from Pot 1 and then team from Pot 2 if slot not already filled. If repeat pairing then move team from Pot 2 to QF3 slot – and draw replacement from Pot 2

  1. QF3 – draw team from Pot 1 – and team from Pot 2 if slot not already filled. If repeat pairing (or will have forced pairing in QF4) then move team from Pot 2 to QF4 slot – and draw replacement from Pot 2

  1. QF4 – draw remaining teams in to QF4

  1. SF – open draw with 4 numbered balls – 1st ball drawn plays 2nd ; and 3rd ball plays 4th
