Relegation battle under the Cortown lights

It’s a game no player wishes to play in but the Fairyhouse Steel SFC Relegation Playoff meeting of Ballinabrackey and Rathkenny is the sole fixture on the schedule on Thursday evening under the floodlights in Cortown.

Tickets for all games this weekend in the Club Championships are available here: Club Football Championship Tickets

Ballinabrackey reached the PR Coyne sponsored Division 1 Football League only a few short months ago and them finding themselves mired in the relegation battle is not something which many would have predicted, especially after their impressive showing despite losing to Summerhill in the opening round.

Rathkenny started very well against Trim on the first weekend of the Championship and they looked likely to get a win only for a late Trim surge to prove their downfall and then a last gasp concession against Skryne saw them only come away with a draw in Round 2.  A hefty loss to Ratoath followed din the last round before a narrow defeat to Na Fianna in the opening round of the Relegation Playoffs.

Whichever of these sides can perform at or closest to their best will manage to survive but who and which side will end up only an hour from the Intermediate ranks.
