Moving Weekend – Saturday’s Team News

The action continues on Moving Weekend when we have a busy programme of games this evening and after a night of surprise results on Friday, could we have more of the same or will the more fancied teams come out on top?

All fixtures this evening have a 18:30 throw in time.

This evenings game is all ticket and are priced as follows.

  • General Admission – €10
  • Student/OAP – €5
  • Children U-16 accompanied by an adult attend for free.

Tickets for all games can be purchased via the Meath GAA App which can be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play Store.

In the Fairyhouse Steel Senior Football Championship, both games feature pairings who are on retrieval missions following defeats on the opening weekend.  Another defeat here and the relegation battle looms large. In Group A, Donaghmore/Ashbourne and Curraha have the short journey to Ratoath for their local derby and this promises to be a battle royale.  The ‘Moors started brightly against Dunshaughlin before fading out of the game and losing while Curraha never really got their mojo going against Na Fianna.

In Group B Seneschalstown had county man Cathal Hickey in sparkling form against St. Peter’s Dunboyne but they lacked enough firepower further forward to rack up a match winning total, especially as their defence found a red hot Donal Lenihan too much to handle at the other end of the pitch.  Rumours abound that Trim are depleted for this game but could this be a smokescreen emanating from the club in advance of a much win game?  Time will tell.

There is a pair of fixtures in Group B of the Meade Farm sponsored IFC and this could be the round that decides the group.  If Castletown and Duleek-Bellewstown defeat St. Michael’s and Blackhall Gaels respectively, then they will be guaranteed a quarter final place with a round to spare.  Duleek-Bellewstown will be hotly fancied to take care of their end of the equation but St. Michael’s who are smarting from their opening round loss to Joe Sheridan’s side, will be looking to make amends against Castletown and they will fancy their chances of doing so.

In the Balreask Bar, Restaurant & Guest Accomodation JFC, Kilmainham who are coming into this game off the back of a draw against Ballinlough, take on a St. Vincent’s side who are swimming in the last chance saloon after two defeats in the opening two rounds.  Is there a sting in the St. Vincent’s tail or will Kilmainham pick up the victory?

There are three games on the cards in the Coolrite Junior B Football Championship.  In Group A can St. Mary’s move into contention for the knockout stages or will Clonard deal their chances a hefty blow?  Group B sees Moynalty and St. Paul’s meet in Kilberry where it is difficult to see anything other than a Moynalty win on the weekend of the threshing while Slane and Carnaross meet in a very interesting encounter in Drumbaragh.
