After a second half performance on Tuesday evening against Wexford in Chadwicks Wexford Park which was as good any delivered by a Meath side in recent years, our Minor Footballers have progressed to the Electric Ireland Leinster Minor Football Championship semi-final against Kildare.
Trailing by 1-08 to 0-04 at the half time interval, the boys in green looked to have a mountain to climb in the second half but they came out and turned in a devastating display of football to outscore the hosts by 3-10 to 0-03 in the final thirty minutes to eventually run out victors on a scoreline of 3-14 to 1-11.
That last four fixture will be played in Manguard Plus Hawkfield on Wednesday May 24 at 19:30, with Kildare having home advantage as part of a home and away arrangement between the counties at the Minor grade. The last time the counties met in the Leinster MFC knockout stages where the home and away arrangement came into play was in 2016 when the semi-final was played in Páirc Tailteann. The 2018 Leinster MFC Final was of course played in the neutral venue of O’Connor Park, Tullamore.
