Minors opt for continuity

Fresh from picking up the victory over Laois a fortnight ago that secured a place in the knockout stages of the Electric Ireland Leinster Minor Football Championship, Trevor Giles has opted to select the same starting XV for this evening’s Preliminary Quarter-Final against Wicklow.

There are though some changes among the replacements as Oisín Farrelly, Leo Kavanagh and Mark Halpin come in for Conor McTigue, Jake Loughran and Caolan Comey respectively.

The team will once more be captained by Harry McGuirk who is selected at centre back and he is flanked by Liam O’Donoghue and Niall Smyth, with Ben Browne, Tomas Clarke and Niall Rogan lining out in the full back line.  Cormac Fitzsimons as he has done throughout the Championship will be between the uprights in goals.

Having come in to the side for the victory over Laois, John Killoran maintains his place in midfield where he is partnered by Tomas Proudfoot.

Fresh from captaining St. Patrick’s Navan to the Leinster Junior Football Championship title last week, Conn Brennan leads the attack from centre forward and he is joined in the half forward line by Cormac McKenna and Alex Keane.

Cormac Walsh has been in excellent form thus far in the Championship at top of the right and he continues in the full forward line alongside Milo Stafford and Thomas McKeever who made his first start of the competition in that Round 3 victory over Laois.
