The Electric Ireland Leinster Minor Football Championship gets underway this afternoon at 14:00 when Meath welcome neighbouring Westmeath to Páirc Tailteann and the first selection of the year has been unveiled.
In total there are players named in the starting side from twelve different clubs by Joe Cowley and his management team, with Eoghan McBrearty captaining the side from centre back.
With all of the 2024 panel having been full age minors, this is a completely fresh panel.
Kian Campbell will line out between the posts and he will have a full back line of Charlie O’Connor, Conall O’Sullivan and Glen Callaghan in front of him. Team captain Eoghan McBrearty anchors the defensive effort from centre back and he is flanked by Tadgh Foley and Niall Lawless at right half back and left half back respectively.
There is a Summerhill and St. Peter’s Dunboyne pairing at midfield as Declan Byrne and Charlie Gallagher team up while in the half forward line, Cillian Murphy leads the attack from centre forward, with Will Byrne and Jeff Foley either side of him. Adam McEvoy, Stephen Cahill and Nathan Reilly form the full forward line.
