A place in the Leinster Senior Football Championship semi-final against either Wicklow or Dublin is at stake on Sunday when Meath take on Offaly in the provincial championship quarter final at 14:30 in Páirc Tailteann.
The counties last met two years ago at the same stage of the competition but such has been the rate of change, there are only four members of the Meath starting line-up for Sunday who also started that game in Glenisk O’Connor Park.
The four are Donal Keogan, Jack Flynn, Mathew Costello and Keith Curtis. There are five further members of that team from two years ago who could feature off the bench on Sunday for Meath – Adam O’Neill, Ronan Ryan, Seán Coffey, Cillian O’Sullivan and Cathal Hickey.
There is one alteration to the Meath side which defeated Carlow a week ago as Aaron Lynch comes in as an indirect replacement for the injured Jack Kinlough. Aaron lines out at corner forward, with Keith Curtis switching out to left half forward in the resultant reshuffle.
Billy Hogan continues in goals and he will once more have Seamus Lavin, Seán Rafferty and Brian O’Halloran in front of him in the full back line. Donal Keogan who switched out to centre back from corner back last week continues to anchor the defence and he will have Eoin Harkin and Ciarán Caulfield either side of him.
Jack Flynn and Bryan Menton who have been ever-present at midfield this season continue their partnership and the half forward line sees Conor Duke and Ruairí Kinsella continue in their positions from last week and they are joined by Keith Curtis.
Mathew Costello lines out on the edge of the square at full forward after making his return to the starting XV last week and he is joined by Aaron Lynch and team captain Eoghan Frayne.
Among the replacements, Adam O’Neill and Seán Coffey make their return to the match day panel for the first time since the Round 5 and Round 4 Allianz Football League games respectively.
