Sponsorship from Bective Stud Tea Rooms & Apartments

Also in attendance was Meath County Board Chairman Jason Plunkett, who announced their extended sponsorship partnership. “We are delighted to confirm the ongoing support of our dedicated sponsor, The Bective Stud Tearooms & Apartments. Bective Stud has now extended its commitment to our senior and underage sides, with sponsorship confirmed from 2025 through to 2027. The Meath County Board is deeply grateful for the generous and consistent support of Noel and Valerie Moran, whose dedication to Meath GAA is widely appreciated by our players, supporters, and the wider community.”

Valerie & Noel Moran, Director of Bective Stud Tea Rooms & Apartments, added: “We are delighted to renew our sponsorship of the Meath Senior, Under 20, and Minor county teams for another three years. We would like to thank outgoing manager Colm O’Rourke and his backroom team for their  hard work and dedication and we wish Colm all the best for the future. We warmly welcome Robbie Brennan and his management team. We are particularly proud to support the early development of Gaelic games in the county and to see the excellent progress at the Meath Centre of Excellence in Dunganny. With Dunganny just a stone’s throw from Bective Stud and Tea Rooms, we look forward to welcoming players, supporters, and families alike to Bective.”

A Vision for Meath GAA

Reflecting on his new role, Brennan said, “Being appointed as Meath Manager is a great honour. My family, friends, and the people of Kilmacud and Dunboyne have played a huge part in my journey, and I am incredibly proud to represent them and the wider Meath community.”

A New Approach

As Brennan embarks on this journey, his goals are clear: building a team characterised by hard work, focus, and resilience. He aims to unite Meath’s clubs across senior, intermediate, and junior levels with a shared vision for success. “Every club has a role, whether they’re from Dunboyne, Oldcastle, Duleek, Enfield, or beyond. We are one county, and we are all working together for the greater good of Meath GAA.”

After attending recent regional games, Brennan expressed his admiration for the quality and skill on display from players across the county. These games, he noted, have also given him an opportunity to get to grips with the latest rules.

Competitive Goals

Looking ahead, Brennan has set ambitious yet realistic targets for the team. “Division 2 is a highly competitive league, with challenging local derbies against Louth, Westmeath, Monaghan and Cavan. Our long-term aim is to progress to Division 1, though this is a journey that will require consistent growth. This year, we saw what a Division 2 team like Armagh achieved, and it’s an inspiring reminder of what’s possible.”

Preparing for the Season

With the Return to Play scheduled for December 7th, the team has been focusing on player recovery. Brennan emphasised the importance of rest after a long season. “This period is crucial for players to recharge, address any injuries, and be ready for a strong start in the National League at the end of January.”

While no official trials are planned, the selection process continues with detailed review of game footage and player meetings. Over the coming weeks, Brennan and his staff will finalise the squad, aiming to build a team that represents the best of Meath GAA.

Support from the Coaching Team

Joining Brennan are esteemed coaches Martin Corey from Monaghan and Joe McMahon from Tyrone, each bringing a winning temperament to the setup. Their expertise and dedication will be instrumental in building a cohesive, competitive squad. Adding valuable local knowledge to the management team is Conor Gillespie of Summerhill, completing a well-rounded and skilled management ticket.

Club Involvement During the League

Recognising the importance of regular match play, Brennan is open to allowing players who may see limited county team time to participate in club matches during the league. “During my time with Kilmacud, I saw the value in players staying sharp through active gameplay. This will be a priority for us.”

Meath County Board Chairman Jason Plunkett concluded, “As the Meath GAA community embarks on this new chapter, we invite fans and supporters from every corner of the county to join us in celebrating this exciting transition. With Robbie Brennan at the helm and the support of The Bective Stud Tearooms & Apartments, we look forward to a season of hard work, growth, and ultimately, success.”
