Job Title: Football Performance Lead (FPL)
Location: Meath centre of excellence, Dunganny, Co Meath
Background
Meath GAA is putting in place long-term structures to maximise development pathways and ultimately produce better football players to perform at the highest level at county, club and schools level.
The project is well underway, and we are continuing to refine and improve how we are structured and staffed.
The position (FPL)
An exciting opportunity to manage the underage performance support programmes up to the Meath senior development team, has arisen. Working with the academy head coach, the football performance manager will manage the academy performance supports and pathways, primarily athletic development but also nutrition, sports psychology and sports science. They will also work closely with the medical and physio teams to ensure that our players are well looked after, and all sport science elements are well integrated.
The role will include supporting our clubs through our pioneering club pathway programme and building out our second level support programmes, particularly developing a more consistent athletic development approach for Gaelic games in our schools.
Responsibilities:
· Manage the athletic pathway for all Meath football activity up to and including sub senior.
· Management of all nutrition, medical and physio support for the Meath football academy.
· Meath football coaching support/team Support as required.
· Oversight and management of the integration of the sport science elements of the academy programmes.
· Management of the Meath club athletic pathway.
· Management of the Meath schools’ athletic pathway.
· Ensure all Meath teams are physically and athletically prepared to compete at their grade.
· Ensure Meath players that come out of the academy system are athletically equipped to play elite, performance based, inter-county football.
· Support clubs and schools to ensure Meath clubs adopt best practice to improve the overall athletic pool of talent in the county.
· Create centralised data collection and analysis systems for player performance monitoring.
· Work closely with the Academy Head Coach to manage the football and athletic curriculum in all areas of performance support
Reports/Accountable to:
Academy Head Coach (ACH) for operational matters and a representative of the Meath Football Development Committee (MFDC) on behalf of, CLG, Coiste na Mi as required/directed.
The Person
· Five years plus experience in sports performance and development pathway structures.
· Degree equivalent (or higher) in sports science, athletic development or related performance support discipline.
· Performance support related accreditation.
· A deep understanding of the GAA and how it works.
