Meath GAA was delighted to welcome members of the Green Bay Packers team to the Centre of Excellence on Tuesday evening to provide an overview of an intercounty set-up. The visit aimed to connect the NFL team with local sporting communities as part of their tour of Ireland and the UK.
One of the stars of the Green Bay Packers 2025 season, Irish born Daniel Whelan was on hand to meet some of the local players and participate in some kicking drills with both a Gaelic Football and an American Football, while also discussing the similarities and differences of the GAA and the NFL.

Whelan was introduced to current Meath Senior Men’s players Sean Brennan, Cian McBride and Billy Hogan who tried their hand at kicking the American Football while also giving an overview of their own kicking styles.

Meath County Board Chairman Jason Plunkett was on hand to present Green Bay Packers Director of Brand Strategy & Marketing Joan Malcheski with a special presentation to mark the historic visit while Meath players Sean Brennan, Cian McBride and Billy Hogan were presented with a signed jersey by Daniel Whelan.
