With two rounds of the Cup competitions now completed in the county, there’s a clear picture emerging of which clubs have put themselves in position for a shot at early season silverware. Beginning with the Feis Cup, in Group A, Gaeil Colmcille set the pace having defeated Seneschalstown and Dunshaughlin respectively in their two outings.
Behind them, Seneschalstown are almost assured to finish second, in Round 3 the Yellow Furze outfit play thus far winless Dunshaughlin while, even if St Colmcille’s were to beat the Kells side, presuming placings are decided on a head-to-head basis, Seneschalstown have already defeated the seasiders.
In Group B, Simonstown Gaels and Donaghmore/Ashbourne are locked together on three points after the former defeated Trim (0-16 to 0-11) and the latter had ten points to spare over county champions and local rivals Ratoath, 2-13 to 1-06.
Group C sees Na Fianna and St Peter’s Dunboyne both unbeaten before they meet in Round 3. The Enfield/Baconstown combination currently top the standings. The final group contains only four teams, with Summerhill having won both of their outings.

In the Intermediate competition, Corn Na Boinne, Group A sees newly promoted Castletown head affairs having won both their outings, against Ballivor and Meath Hill.
St Patrick’s have been fast from stalls in Group B, running up big tallies against St Michael’s and Walterstown in their pair of outings to date.
The third section is headed by Duleek/Bellewstown by virtue of last year’s IFC finalists’ four point success over Navan O’Mahonys while the final division sees Oldcastle and Drumbarragh Emmetts deadlocked on full points with the pair scheduled to meet in Round 3.

The Tailteann Cup, played off among the Junior football clubs, sees Clann Na nGael lead the way in Group A after wins against Dunsany and St Brigid’s.
Group B has Kilbride setting the pace, with Syddan in closest pursuance and the two still to meet this weekend, at the time of typing.
The third group sees Kilmainham and Moylagh deadlocked on one win apiece though, again, as this is being written, the red and blacks have a game in hand.

The Tailteann Shield sees Kilmainhamwood set the standard in its first group, while the second batch of four has St Mary’s leading Moynalty on score difference as it stands. In Group C, a victory for Slane over Carnaross sees them atop the group.
NOTE: There has only been one round of fixtures played to date in the Tailteann Shield.
