Go Games
Go games provides an opportunity to recruit young people in refereeing, it is paramount that the best possible training and support is provided to these referees.
More importantly it is vital that they have good experiences as referees also. These initial years are vital in fostering respect both for players starting off their careers and referees beginning life as a match official.
Unlike the senior levels of Gaelic Games where the referee’s role is to interpret and apply the rules rigidly to the games, the Go Games referee’s role requires a different philosophy.
The responsibility of the Go Games referee should be to help the players understand the rules by adopting an encouraging and educative approach rather than an over technical approach to refereeing.
It is recommended that all new Go Games referees will be mentored by the club Referee coordinator or club GPO in their first season to provide feedback to the referee and the referee pathway coordinator.

Youth Referees
The Youth Referee Programme is an initiative to progress Go Games referees on the Referee Pathway and to fill the gap between Go Games referees and Foundation Level.
This phase is open to anyone over 16 who wants to become a referee and pursue a referee career within Meath. It is also an opportunity for aspiring referees to gain experience refereeing at Youth Level within the county.
The Youth Referee Pathway Coordinator will provide coaching, advice and support to these referees on a regular basis. Once the Youth referee training is completed, participants will be qualified to referee games at under 13 level within the county.
