Meath Coaching & Games provides Football and Athletic Development support to 10 Post Primary schools in the county.

This support covers both Junior and Senior teams in schools which will assist players in their development while supporting teachers coaching their school team.

Development Frameworks will be set up in your school with guidelines for coaching and developing players based on their age, physical development stage, skill level and goals

Player Pathway Framework

  • Repositioning the Post Primary School at the centre of all developmental processes through a Football Player Pathway Framework
  • Underpinning the framework with a best practice programme that links up all our age groups along the Football Player Pathway
  • Embedding synergised player development practices within the School, Club and Talent Academy environments

Athletic Development Framework

  • The purpose of the Physical Development Framework is to provide a system of enhancing physical fitness and athleticism through the provision of developmentally appropriate training programs
  • The framework is not a fixed entity and will be constantly reviewed and evolved as new evidence and experiences emerge and will serve to guide the delivery athletic development practices across School, Club and Talent Academy programs
  • Embedding synergised player development practices within the School, Club and Talent Academy environments
  • To assist with monitoring the well-being, injury incidence, physical development and performance of players across the pathway

Teacher/Coach Education Framework

  • Aligning education opportunities for teachers/coaches to the Football Player Pathway
  • Providing specific opportunities for all teachers/coaches to deliver and support the programme
  • Through Coach Education instilling in all our stakeholders a developmental philosophy for teacher/coach and player development in Meath

Junior Football Team Support

  • Teacher/Coach Education Workshops -These education workshops will be provided for all teachers in your school. The school will receive at least 3 teacher workshops during the school year
  • Teacher/Coach Support – GDCs will provide Coaching Support once every 2 weeks for your Junior School Team. This support will be assisting teachers deliver Football & Athletic sessions in your school
  • Planning – GDCs will provide assistance to teachers planning and reviewing their team’s principles of play and game model during their playing season
  • Football & Athletic Development Coaching Resources will be provided to all teachers in schools to use with the Junior team in the school
  • Formal Football Coach Education Courses Introduction to Gaelic Games, Award 1 will be available for teachers to attend free of charge if interested

Senior Football Team Support

  • Teacher/Coach Education Workshops-These education workshops will be provided for all teachers in your school . The school will receive at least 1 teacher workshop per term
  • Teacher/Coach Support – GDCs will provide Coaching Support once every 2 weeks for your Senior School Team. This support will be assisting teachers deliver Football & Athletic sessions in your school
  • Planning – GDCs will provide assistance to teachers planning and reviewing their team’s principles of play and game model during their playing season
  • Football & Athletic Development Coaching Resources will be provided to all teachers in schools to use with the Senior team in the school
  • Formal Football Coach Education Courses Introduction to Gaelic Games, Award 1 will be available for teachers to attend free of charge if interested
