The evolution of the Meath Hurling panel over the course of the last twelve months is illustrated by the fact there are eleven changes in personnel in the side to face Kerry today in the opening round of the Christy Ring Cup from that which lined out against Donegal in the final round on May 17 2025.
The four surviving members of that side who remain to take on Kerry in Trim are Daire Shine, Joey Cole, Lorcan Byrne and Padraig O’Hanrahan while Darren O’Higgins who came on as a replacement that day will today line out at full forward.
Sean Coloe and Kyle Donnelly also started in that Round 5 game last May and will be part of the match day panel but this time from the replacements bench.

Gavin King who impressed between the uprights over the course of the Allianz Hurling League continues in the last line of defence and he will have the same full back line in front of him that he had for the closing round of the League as Jarlath Ennis, Sean Geraghty and Lorcan O’Connor once more link up.
Eoin Donegan and Noah Conroy occupy the wing back berths, with Daire Shine captaining the side from centre back.
Having spent the League between the centre back and wing back roles, Simon Ennis moves forward to midfield and he is partnered in the engine room by Joey Cole.
Padraig O’Hanrahan who missed out on much of the League will line out at centre forward and the Ratoath man is flanked by Lorcan Byrne and Tom Shine.
Two of the U-20 starlets line out in the inside line of the attack as Darren O’Higgins is at full forward with Mark Leavy at top of the left. They are joined by Mikey Cole at right corner forward.
