Meath take to the field in Croke Park at 17:00 on Saturday evening aiming to bring the Christy Ring Cup back to the banks of the Boyne for the third time and the first since 2019. Having won four and lost one of their five group matches over the course of the competition, Seoirse Bulfin has overseen a steady improvement in performance across much of the competition and hopes are high that this will culminate in a final victory over Derry.
In advance of the decider, Bulfin and his management team have opted for a solitary change in personnel from the team that defeated Sligo a fortnight ago to book their place in Saturday’s final. Stephen Morris who had featured in the earlier rounds of the competition, comes back into the side in place of Padraig O’Hanrahan and will line out at corner forward.
Other than that the side is along familiar lines with the by now regular full back line of Mickey Burke, Shane Brennan and Brendan McKeon lining up in front of netminder Charlie Ennis. Niall McLarnon and Simon Ennis who had both featured at wing forward during the League, occupy the wing back berths with 2019 captain Seán Geraghty manning the centre back berth.
At midfield, Pa Ryan and Martin Healy continue their impressive partnership while the half forward line sees Jack Regan and James Kelly joined by 2016 winning captain James Toher who wears the number ten jersey. Stephen Morris is joined in the full forward line by Éamon Óg Ó Donnchadha and Nicky Potterton.
