After the dramatic action on Saturday which sparked extra-time in one of the showpiece quarter finals in Páirc Tailteann, the knockout action in the Hurling Championships resumes on Sunday with six games down for decision across the Ted Murtagh Clothing & Footwear SHC, Senior B HC, JM Food Services IHC and K Windows & Doors JHC.

Kiltale and Kildalkey meet in the Ted Murtagh Clothing & Footwear, Trim SHC quarter final, twelve months on from their meeting at the last four stage when Kildalkey ran out comfortable winners. Back then the club was on a roll with aspirations of a treble of Championship wins and that eventually came to pass and while this time around the treble isn’t possible, the SHC and IHC double is a live shot.
Kiltale were somewhat unlucky to be edged out on score difference for top spot in Group B by Ratoath and thus were denied straight passage through to the last four and must now take on the reigning champions in their bid to win a first Jubilee Cup since 2018. With nine Jubilee Cups to their name, two ahead of their fierce rivals, they will have added motivation to defeat Kildalkey today as it would give them the chance to push on and go three clear on the roll of honour.
As ever is the case, Jack Regan will likely be the main man in a scoring context today for Kiltale with the ace marksman on 1-55 for the Championship to date but in the inside forward line Peter Durnin is in excellent form with 2-14 from play after the five group games. This pair are ably assisted in the forward line by the industrious Cathal McCabe and Darragh O’Doherty and all four will need to be at the top of their game today.
Brian O’Halloran is in the form of his young life at the moment and the Meath Senior Footballer has registered 7-15 (all from play) to leave him top of the scoring charts from play and in ninth place on the overall charts. He has accounted for 26% of his sides scores from play so Kiltale will be well aware the young forward will need to be shut down from the outset.
But the problems for the Kiltale defence don’t end there as both Paddy Barnwell and Nicky Potterton are in fine form in the inside line of the attack. But for all the plaudits their attack get, perhaps the best line on the team is the full back line of team captain David Conneely, Brin Kelly and 2023 Meath Hurler of the Year Brendan McKeon. If they can be put on the back foot then Kiltale will have a great chance of pulling off the win.

The curtain raiser for this game throws in three hours before it at 13:00 and it is a repeat of the 2023 JM Food Services IHC Final which went all the way to a replay as Navan O’Mahonys and Kildalkey meet once more.
O’Mahonys will have bitter memories of twelve months ago and will view this as an ideal opportunity to avenge that defeat. For the town side, the three giants in the forward line will have big roles to play as Jack Walsh, Shane McCarthy and Cormac Keyes are all match winners on their day.
Kildalkey will look to the likes of Ryan Byas, Matt Rickard and Ross Flynn to lead the way and after a sometimes rocky group stage, they’ll be hoping to peak at the right time.
