Pilot Athletic Development course a great success

A big thank you and well done to the first ever intake of the newly designed ‘Gaelic Games F3 Youth Athletic Development Level One’ course.

Meath is one of four counties in the country currently delivering pilot courses on behalf of the GAA. Fourteen club coaches, currently supporting underage players across Meath, were the very first participants in the country to complete both the online education modules and in-person workshops.

Delivered by our Football Performance Lead Daithi McCabe and Games Development Administrator Pauraic Burke, the course is a game-changer for volunteer coaches, aimed at enhancing their understanding and practices with respect to youth athletic development.

The Level One course was developed by the GAA’s Sports Science Working Group’s Athletic Development sub-group and launched at last month’s Coaching Conference in Croke Park.

The course is designed to support coaches working with players in the F3 Youth Phase (13 to 17-year-olds) of the player pathway and will be rolled out throughout the county in 2025.

Thank you to St Peter’s, Dunboyne for their support in hosting the course and we look forward to delivering more courses in 2025 to continue to support the great work being done by our clubs and coaches in the future.
