Local derby to kick off Round 2 of the SHC

The second weekend of the Hurling Championships gets underway this evening (Thursday) with games spread across the SHC, JHC and the JBHC.

In the sole Ted Murtagh Clothing & Footwear Senior Hurling Championship game on the schedule, Trim and Dunderry meet in a local derby which will be played in Kilmessan at 19:30.  Both sides are coming into this encounter off the back of encouraging opening round performances which resulted in victories over Kildalkey and St. Peter’s Dunboyne respectively.

Trim are short of the services of three of the sixteen players who played a part in that opening weekend win as James Murray, Darragh Heffernan and Pa Ryan look likely to miss out having not been named on the panel below whereas Dunderry look set to be able to welcome back county panellist Jamie Leavy at centre back after he was a late absentee from their Round 1 victory.

There is one game in the K Windows & Doors Junior Hurling Championship as Ratoath and Kildalkey meet in Kiltale at 19:30.

In the K Windows & Doors Junior B Hurling Championship, there are four games on the cards which represents a full programme of games in the fourth level of Hurling Championships.
