The action picks up this evening in the Hurling Championships this evening (Friday) with two games on, one in the Red Murtagh Clothing & Footwear, Trim Senior Hurling Championship and the opening fixture of the JM Food Services sponsored Intermediate Hurling Championship.

Both games throw in at 19:30 and take place in neighbouring venues as the Senior game is played in Páirc Tailteann and the Intermediate game is next door in Paddy O’Brien Park.

Dunderry and St. Peter’s Dunboyne met in last year’s Championship when Dunderry came out on top by seven points (0-19 to 0-12) in the Round 4 fixture which was played in Dunshaughlin and they met most recently on May 18 in Round 3 of the LMES Ltd. Division 2 League when Dunderry once more came out on top (2-17 to 1-14).

This formline would suggest the Tommy Leavy managed side come into this evening’s game as favourites and they will look to the likes of team captain Ronan Brady, Jamie Leavy, Jamie Duffy and Evan Nolan to lead the way in Páirc Tailteann.

St. Peter’s Dunboyne have been hit by emigration over the last twelve to eighteen months but will be buoyed by last year’s DG Stoves & Fireplaces MHC success and they will no doubt look to Sean Quigley to keep the scoreboard ticking over from placed balls and the inside line of Simon Cunningham, Liam Callanan and Niall Smith to be at their best.

Drumree were operating a division higher in the LMES Ltd. Hurling Leagues than this evening’s opponents and will be confident that this will leave them well prepared for the challenge which Wolfe Tones will pose in Paddy O’Brien Park.  Karl Rogers will likely lead the attack at full forward for Drumree and his duel with Ray Doran could prove pivotal to the outcome of this encounter.
