There was success on the double on Saturday evening in Páirc Tailteann for both the Senior Football and Senior Hurling sides as they recorded victories in their respective Championships.
First up were the hurlers who eventually pulled away from Tyrone to record a 0-28 to 0-20 victory which keeps aspirations of qualifying for the final alive.
Joint captain Jack Regan top scored with 0-11 over the seventy minutes, 0-05 of which was plundered from play. In total ten players registered on the scoreboard with substitutes accounting for 0-06 upon their introduction.
Next up for the hurlers is the crucial Round 5 game against Sligo in Markievicz Park at 13:30 on Saturday. A win in that game will see Meath progress to the final on the June Bank Holiday weekend.

The footballers then took centre stage and after a slow start, gradually began to get on top of Tipperary in the opening round of the Tailteann Cup. Trailing by 0-03 to 0-00 after eleven minutes, Mathew Costello got the team up and running before the end of the opening quarter of an hour and from there on Meath began to improve.
By half time, the home side led by 0-07 to 0-04 and in the second half a further 1-12 was added to the scoresheet with Championship debutant Aaron Lynch plundering the goal.
Focus now turns to the Round 2 fixture away to Waterford. This will take place in Fraher Field, Dungarvan at 18:30 on Saturday.
