Meath GAA continues to develop long-term structures to maximise development pathways and ultimately produce better football players to perform at the highest level at county, club and schools level. The project is well underway, and we are continuing to refine and improve how we are structured and staffed.

We are now seeking a Football Pathway Athletic Development Manager (ADM) to join our team.

THE POSITION

An exciting opportunity to manage the underage athletic development and performance support programmes up to the Meath senior development team has arisen.

Working with the Academy Head Coach, the successful candidate will manage the academy performance supports and pathways — primarily athletic development, but also nutrition, sports psychology and sports science. They will also work closely with the medical and physio teams to ensure that our players are well looked after, and that all sport science elements are well integrated.

The role will include supporting our clubs through our pioneering club pathway programme and building out our second-level support programmes, particularly developing a more consistent athletic development approach for Gaelic games in our schools.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage the athletic pathway for all Meath football activity up to and including sub-senior, through an athletic development pathway and curriculum
• Manage all nutrition, medical and physio support for the Meath football academy
• Provide Meath football coaching support/team support as required
• Oversee and manage the integration of the sport science elements of the academy programmes
• Manage the Meath club athletic pathway

• Ensure all Meath teams are physically and athletically prepared to compete at their grade
• Ensure Meath players that come out of the academy system are athletically equipped to play elite, performance-based, inter-county football
• Support clubs and schools to ensure Meath clubs adopt best practice to improve the overall athletic pool of talent in the county
• Create centralised data collection and analysis systems for player performance monitoring
• Work closely with the Academy Head Coach to manage the football and athletic curriculum across all areas of performance support

REPORTING STRUCTURE

The ADM reports/is accountable to the Academy Head Coach (AHC) for operational matters, and to a representative of the Meath Football Development Committee (MFDC) on behalf of CLG, Coiste na Mí, as required or directed.

THE PERSON

• Five years plus experience in athletic development pathway structures
• Degree equivalent (or higher) in sports science, athletic development or a related performance support discipline
• Performance support related accreditation
• A deep understanding of the GAA and how it works
