The showpiece fixture of the Husqvarna Centre PR Coyne sponsored Division 1 Football League takes place this evening in Devenish Park, Dunganny and it is a repeat of the Fairyhouse Steel Senior Football Championship Final of 2025 as Ratoath and Summerhill lock horns once more.

Ratoath have enjoyed the perfect season to date in the League with eleven wins from eleven fixtures in the regular season before securing their place in the decider on Monday evening when accounting for the challenge of Bhulf Tón CLG in their last four encounter.
Over the course of those eleven games in the group stage the side who are now managed by Kevin Daly have averaged just shy of twenty-one points per game with a concession rate of marginally over thirteen points on average.
Jack Flynn will be an absentee from this evening’s final but Ratoath have an abundance of depth on the panel and after having an injury plagued few years after being on the Leinster Minor winning side of 2020 at centre back, Oisín Kelly will line out at midfield alongside Ben McGowan.
Paddy White and Adam Ducie bring youthful flair and exuberance to the forward line but they have no shortage of experience alongside to guide them through big matches with Cian O’Brien and Daithí McGowan operating in the half forward line and Bryan McMahon and Cian Rogers in the inside line of the attack.

Summerhill suffered two defeats on their path to the final, getting off to the worst possible start to the season when losing out to St. Colmcille’s in the opening round and to this evening’s opponents a week later in Round 2. However, since then they have been much improved and have shaken off that poor start to the season as they went on a nine game winning run before taking care of Gaeil Colmcille in the semi-final on Monday.
With Ronan Ryan on the bench and Ross Ryan unavailable there is something of an unfamiliar look to the spine of the ‘Hill defence for this encounter with Ben Moran moving inside to full back from the right corner back berth that we would have seen him occupy during the 2025 Championship and Kevin Lyons anchoring the defensive effort at centre back.
Declan Byrne and Jack Regan also offer a fresh look at midfield and Regan’s addition to their ranks this year is an intriguing addition for Summerhill.
Adam McDonnell once lit up the Gerry Reilly Tournament from centre forward and eight years later he now wears the number eleven jersey for the club and he forms one third of a very effective half forward line alongside the ever-dependable David Larkin and Bobby O’Shea.
Eoghan Frayne is likely to have a fascinating duel with Conor McGill and if he can get on top then it will be a major boost for Summerhill as they look to bring the Mooney Cup back to the club for the first time since 2024.
