The 2025 Meath Club Championships get underway in earnest on Thursday evening with three games on the agenda, one in the Fairyhouse Steel Senior Football Championship and two in the Coolrite Junior B Football Championship.
The action did of course get underway last weekend when Cortown ran out twenty-two point winners over Eastern Gaels in Group B of the Coolrite Junior B Football Championship.
Perhaps the standout game of the evening on Thursday for the neutrals is the meeting of the 2024 defeated semi-finalists in the opening round of the Fairyhouse Steel Senior Football Championship as St. Peter’s Dunboyne and Skryne meet in Páirc Tailteann.
The Dunboyne are of course missing the services of Jack Kinlough and Ronan Jones through injury and are also minus Shane McEntee for this game but are bolstered by the addition of Eric Lowndes at midfield who recently transferred into the side. He lines out at midfield and will be joined in the starting line-up by his brothers Craig and Stuart who are both in the half back line.
Skryne welcome back Darragh Campion from his travels and he is a welcome addition to their side at full forward where he is flanked by the recently married Conor O’Brien and the young tyro Billy Smyth. Much might depend on how their midfield pairing of John O’Regan and Harry Rooney fare. If they can get the upper-hand on Lowndes and Michael Murphy then Skryne will be confident of getting off to a positive start.
