O'Byrne Cup 2006

29th January 2006 - Meath's First Title with Eamonn Barry

Today in Navan Meath took the O'Byrne Cup Title in front of a crowd of just under 14,000. While Meath were well ahead at half time, Offaly worked well in the second half to come to just 4 points behind. An inspirational goal from Ger Robinson was followed by Joe Sheridan's second goal and the Royal County took it's first piece of silverware under new manager, Eamonn Barry. The 3 goals were the difference between the sides at the final whistle, with Offaly scoring 0-14 to Meath's 3-14.

22nd January 2006 - Meath progress to O'Bryne Cup Final


Meath will play Offaly in the O'Byrne Cup Final next Sunday in Páirc Tailteann following their win over Dublin today in a packed Parnell Park. Meath were down to 14 men for the last ten minutes when Seamus Kenny was sent off on a second yellow card, but held out deserving winners with some great support play.

Meath had with 3 changes from the starting 15 on the programme - Paddy Nugent replaced the injured Denis Kealy, Niall McLoughlin started instead of D. Clarke and N. Crawford partnered Barry Lynch at mid-field instead of A. Moyles.
