A Chara,
Please note the final Meath Summer Hurling Blitzes take place
this weekend
Sat/Sunday Aug 30/31.
Could all clubs who are participating liaise with each other to
decide on
number of players/teams available to play?
Clubs hosting the games receive on submission of receipts €150.
Clubs who
have hosted games and have not claimed any expenses should do
so when ever
possible.
With a lot of pitches unplayable and games postponed due to the
weather,
Wolfetones in Drogheda are taking their games this weekend to
indoor
synthetic pitches as to avoid disappointment with games not being
played.
Funding received will go towards the cost of the hired pitches.
This was one
of the suggestions that was made when this programme was distributed
in May
(See below)
Regards,
Declan Power
Funding
Funding is provided to all host clubs to the value of €150 and
is part of
the Meath/Kildare Hurling Development Programme under the Leinster
Council
GAA.
The funding can be spent in the following suggested ways to assist
with
running the games programme and to add to the occasion:-
* Refreshments
* Face Painting
* Certificates
* Souvenir medals
* Referees
* All Weather Pitches
It is up to the Host Club to decide how best to use the financial
contribution. Most clubs tend to go for ‘refreshments’ but if
you want to
bring something different to the programme that’s up to the club!
Any reimbursement of funding can only be done so on submission
of receipts
or invoices. Please forward those details to my address below.

MEATH
& KILDARE U 14 HURLING COUNTY LEAGUE 2008
Please
find attachments below with details of a joint County twinning
hurling project between Meath & Kildare. The project aims
to promote summer Hurling and increase participation levels for
U 14 club Hurling players.
Every
summer there tends to be ‘little Hurling activity’
for club players and this games programme will try and counteract
that by providing a series of games in a league format for 11-15
a side teams.
There
is no greater way to promote Hurling than during the Summer time:-
- Traditionally good weather
- Long evenings
- Good quality pitches
- High profile inter co. games
Please
ensure that the club Hurling secretary receives this attachment,
that the details are read in full, complete the application form
and return to me on or before Friday May 23rd. There will be no
late concessions.
On return
of applications, clubs will be streamed as equal as possible into
groups and invited to ‘League Launch’ at a date to
be confirmed. This project will only be a success with club buy
in and no doubt you will give it your full consideration.,

The
annual Martin Donnelly/Leinster GAA Poc Fada finals take place
in the Curragh this Thursday, June 21, 2007. Attached is a copy
of the clár for your perusal.
This
year all competitors will assemble at the new Rugby dressing rooms
adjacent to Mc Donagh GAA pitch where everyone will have access
to shower and toilet facilities as required. The army tents will
be pitched on the Rugby ground and Mc Donagh GAA pitch is approx
2 mins walk where the Poc Fada will start and finish.
Directions
To
avoid going through the actual Army Camp, here is the best route
to take.
Travel
from north or south on the motorway towards Newbridge. Take the
slip road off the motorway for Newbridge/Curragh Camp. Off the
roundabout avoid the Curragh
Camp and take the Kilcullen Road . Take the first right
turn at Lumville House. Take the next right and the Rugby Club
house is on the right hand side where everyone will assemble and
register before each competition

Leinster
Council Hurling initiative in Croke Park-‘A Huge Success’.
The
recent Leinster Council Hurling initiative for the Counties U
14 Hurling Schools of Excellence/ Development squads in Croke
Park was ‘a huge success’ according to Declan Power, Hurling Development
Administrator for Leinster Council and Meath/Kildare region.
‘This
was our second year bringing the U 14 squads to Croke Park for
a day of Hurling. The day was broken down into 3 segments, a tour
of the stadium, an educational seminar based on ‘Best Practice’
and of course the players got a chance to play on the ‘hallowed
turf.’
The
day featured all 12 Counties from the province getting a chance
to shine in Croker. ‘The event for us certainly heightens the
profile of the game and there is no better way of doing it than
bringing the young hurling enthusiasts to the ‘theatre of dreams’.
‘We
stressed to the players that with plenty of practice and ambition
the opportunity to play in Croke Park would again happen for most
of them regardless of what competition it was i.e. Nicky Rackard,
Christy Ring or the Liam McCarthy’.
The
players all received hints, tips and advice from some of the Countries
top players such as Eddie Brennan, Jackie Tyrell (Kilkenny) and
Damien Fitzhenry (Wexford) among other speakers such as Paudie
Butler, National Hurling Coordinator and Declan Coyle, Sports
Psychologist.
