Profile

Formation:

Wolfe Tones GAA is a small rural club from the Gibbstown / Oristown / Wilkinstown / Kilberry parish which is situated four miles outside Navan. The club has a proud history in all levels of GAA football over the years. The club has enjoyed much success in all competitions.

Bhulf Tón C.L.G. was founded in 1975 when the old St. John’s Club of Wilkinstown / Kilberry area amalgamated with Gibbstown (Baile Ghib – Gaeltacht Area) and Oristown to form a team in the parish of Oristown / Kilberry. Hence, Bhulf Tón C.L.G. was formed.

Bhulf Tón C.L.G. actively promotes Gaelic Football, Hurling and Ladies Football.

History overview:
The year 2003 marked a milestone in the parish, in winning the Junior Football Championship at county, Provincial and All-Ireland Level. Furthering this success and promoted to Intermediate grade status, Bhulf Tón C.L.G. captured the County title in 2004, thus recording an historic achievement in being the only Club ever to win back-to-back titles in consecutive years in the annals of this county.

In furthering such unprecedented success and playing in the ultimate grade, Bhulf Tón C.L.G. consolidated its status in reaching the Quarter Final state in the Senior Football Championship 2005.

There is no shortage of optimism in Adult Hurling circles in Bhulf Tón C.L.G. We must take cognisance of the fact that Hurling is reliant on dual code players from our own Club and also neighbouring Clubs, Castletown C.L.G. and Rathkenny C.L.G.

Achievements:

Our dedicated trainers have moulded the Club’s highly successful Under-age structure. Winning both U14 Division 3 league final and the Minor Football Championship titles this year. Thankfully, Under-age Football and Hurling continues to consolidate itself at a solid pace and full of the promise of a new dawn.

1986 marked the first Minor Championship win for Bhulf Tón C.L.G. Then in 1989 Bhulf Tón emerged Junior County Champions. In paced progression, Intermediate Championship honours were achieved in 1992 after a Final replay.

1993 was this Club’s debut season at Senior rank and in reaching the Senior Final, Adult Hurling surpassed all expectations. Bhulf Tón competed well in this grade for a number of years. Dropping back to Intermediate grade for a brief two years and upon winning the County Championship, Bhulf Tón were back in the Senior ranks in 2003. However, it was back to Intermediate grade again in 2004 wherein present focus is firmly fixed on garnering the elite jewel that is the Senior Hurling Championship title.

Not withstanding the reign of glory, Cumann Peil Gael na mBan, Bhulf Tón stepped into the limelight to capture the Junior League Final Division 3 title in 2005 – this being the first victory since 1987 when the Cumann Peil Gael na mBan was reborn.

Current Profile:

In 2013, both our Senior Football team and our Intermediate hurlers both made it to the semi final stages in their respective championships but were unfortunate not to progress any further.
Although we currently have no underage teams for girls our Ladies team continue to manage to field a team. This year they reached the Div 3 league final.
